Time to Post *Gifted* Dividend Miles

I'm sure someone on this forum can help me. Booking some tickets with a friend and my partner from Charlotte to Rio next year via US Airways. Needed to purchase a few miles for myself and partner. I "bought" mine outright and they posted immediately. I "gifted" those to my partner and his have yet to appear. US Airways is officially telling me that there is up to a 24 hour posting period, but have never had this problem before. My credit card company can see the two seperate charges, so don't dare try to purchase again as it's a non-refundable purchase. Any experiences on here with delayed postings of miles when you get them for someone else?
