If buying SPG with the current 20% of promo, you get US miles for only 1,49 cpm.
Not as good as the current US share deal, but better than buying US.
I think I will convert all my SPG, not buying any.
See previous experiences with equal US promo;
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/us-ai...transfers.html
I would suggest OP rename thread according to the previous promo thread.

As above 1,49 cpm with SPG transfer.
Anyone has figures for other hoteltransfers?

Marriott is not great. It's 1.25 cpm to buy Marriott points. You need 125,000 points for 50k US miles. So, with the bonus, it's $1562.50 for 75k miles, or more than 2 cpm.

I saw a post about wyndham rewards for 0.4cpm US!
During the discover america sales on Amex
Are there are wyndhamites who can help?

A couple of things working to our benefit.

-The 50% bonus, of course,
-With every 20,000 SPG points converted to 20,000 DM Miles, you get a 5,000 miles.
-Buy SPG points is 20% off until May 31, 2010. So right now, the max of 20,000 SPG points can be purchased for $560 instead of the regular $700.

So...

$560 can get you 20K SPG points, transferred to US Airways gets you 25,000 US miles + 50% of 12,500- so 37,500 miles. (must do so before 5/31 to get the 20% discount on SPG purchase points)

Can someone please verify the math for me (am on the road now...). Transferring SPG 125K yields 232,500 US miles, correct? That's 125K + (5K*6) + 77500 bonus.

How long will the transfer take, and when will bonus post (T&C said weekly)?
And how long can I hold an award tix for?

Thanks.

Your math looks accurate to me.

It can be held 3 days except for SQ, CA. It takes a week or two to post
If you are in a hurry, sharing miles is faster and cheaper as well.
See the 100% bonus for sharing thread. only valid 3 more days.
That comes to 1.1 cpm

I yielded and bought March 31 at 100% bonus buy and gift at 1.5 cpm
The next day the 100% bonus for sharing appeared again! 1.1 cpm

Then did all the transfers I could with a friends and family network of 9.
Everyone got 212.5k miles at the end, but some were used in a chain to maximize return.
All tickets bought, 1st one being used, now I get the urge to buy more.
must resist, must resist ... wife needs SPG for AA status...

Ah what the heck, she can wait a couple more years.....

Actually what stopped me cold was a thread on US forum that US was leaving the Star Alliance.... Man that would mean all these shenanigans are useless for future FCL visits..

Yeah; I emailed the CP desk and they said this is not true.

In case anyone was wondering if it was possible...I just did an SPG--US Air points/miles transfer with different named accounts with no problems (to take advantage of the 50% bonus promo)

If you do that once, can you do it again to another US account, like Amex MR to CO?
