Update 08APR2014: Star Alliance Awards must have been booked by March 30, 2014. They are no longer available through US. This thread is mostly useful for historic purposes, and discussing issues such as schedule changes/route changes that affect FTers existing *A awards booked before 3/31/2014.
Discussion on using US miles to book oneworld awards is available here.
If you are looking for discussion on US's new partner awards that use various partners not in oneworld (many of whom are former *A partners), see the devoted thread on using US miles to book NON-oneworld partners here.

12A on e145 is an excellent seat if you can get it. Almost as good as fc single seats on cr7/9.

Exactly. This happens quite frequently in searches and can be confusing if not paying close enough attention

Help with Last minutish Asia via Europe
I am trying to get back from Tokyo July 4-8th to NYC - ideally via LAX for 23 hours in Business class or First.
This would be the second half of the ticket.
I have the first part EWR-AMS-stopover
AMS-MUC-NRT (dest)
any suggestions? I am trying to avoid the LH angle-flat seats and Egyptair. I found some crazy stuff through Seoul and Istanbul but nothing via west coast.
Is it legal to go via Sydney to LAX?
This would be the second half of the ticket.

As in... NRT-BKK/ICN/PEK/SIN-SYD-LAX? I'd have to say most likely not...

Try NRT-ICN-LAX on Asiana
or NRT-PEK-LAX on Air China
or NRT-LAX on ANA

IST is a little crazy.. ICN? Not so much
http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=nrt-lax...x,+nrt-zrh-lax,
That said, flying TK through IST is a great option anyway - excellent airline.

Could I ask you something?
Based on US Airways Award Chart, 'South Pacific' refer to where?
Such as Australia, New Zealand, and then?
Especially , I want to know whether Guam and Saipan is belong to where
