Round the world ticket?

Just wondering if anyone here has purchased an Around the World ticket through *alliance?
What was your itinerary and what was your travel expreince like?
Was it easy to book?
How long did you plan for the total trip?

I'm holdling on to my 200,000 miles for my ticket!

completed a *a rtw in march. on hold with US air as we speak- to book my next one. unforunatly/or fortunatly i do these for work so i don't need to save up 200,000. i do these pretty quickly 3-4 weeks. i would look through the gloabl alliance board- they will have more info on *a rtw. also, go to the staralliance website and download the ticket validator program. very useful. i plan the ticket, print the specifics and fax or phone it into the first airline on the list. any specific questions please ask...

There is a wealth of information on the Star forum. There is also a long thread discussing bugs in the Star Mileage Calculator program.
I attempted to use it to validate the ticket I'm in the process of booking right now, and ran into two problems:
Not every city is IN the calculator!
Once it validated (I used a fake city with the same mileage for segments) it disagreed with my calculations by about 600 miles, and with the calculations of the Star office that tried to ticket it by about 800 (no two of these numbers matched  )
The trick on RTWs is that the rules and prices are different with different origins--of course if you use miles that is less relevant.

Does anyone have the DM mileage requirements for these trips handy, especially in different classes?
