Big issue here is the CP's only work on the highest fares $1000+. So mine will likely go in the garbage. Meanwhile they're handing out the Space Availables by the fistful that work with any fare and any status (GM, US2, US1, CP).

Envoy product hasn't kept up with the competition (real lie flat beds in BA, etc..), so I guess they aren't selling Envoy. They used to give out upgrade coupons to all level of members that worked with a wide variety of fares. My guess is that Envoy was embarressingly empty and they decided to (a) fill Envoy up to make it look good; (2) try to bribe travel agents and their best corporate customers.

Envoy does sell at times. When I was looking at a trip to FRA from BNA on Fri. 10/21 here's what I found:
1.) the CLT-FRA flight had only 8 seats in Envoy left out of 41
2.) the first PHL-FRA had only 19 seats in Envoy lef out of 41
3.) the second had nothing out of 23

So therefore, out of a total of 105 seats for sale, they had sold 78. Granted, there were I'm sure a few awards in there but doubtful more than a handful per flight in Envoy so let's say 65-70 sold Enovy seats.

Granted, a restrictive sample - but a thread on FT a week ago about Envoy sold out on 10/25 to MAD (not even a big business desintation) suggests that Envoy sales are still pretty good.

Very cool. Assuming this isn't an anomoly (ie. a big tradeshow in FRA), it's good to see. Hopefully, that'll mean they put more money in the Envoy product.

I'm on US 98 (PHL-LGW) on Oct. 1 and US 99 (LGW-PHL) on Oct. 7, and my USE1 upgrades on both flights were confirmed this morning. I was absolutely shocked that US confirmed the Oct. 7 upgrade almost 2 weeks in advance, though admittedly I hadn't checked to see how many seats were left in the R bucket.

Phl - Bcn - Phl

1. PHL-BCN 9/8 return BCN-PHL 9/14

2. US1

3. B fare

4. At time of purchase (the big advantage of B over other u/g fares)

5. DMUTAs (but they only collected them in one direction, so I still have one set)

6. PHL-BCN almost completely full; BCN-PHL less than 1/2 full

7. The difference between B and other u/g fares (M,H,Q) is sometimes so little that it is worth the $$ to be sure of the u/g. , IMHO.

The last time I got upgraded to Envoy was back in NOV 2003 with the certificates I got upon qualification for GP. I have not been getting any kind of upgrade certificate since then and I have been GP for the past two years and already qualified for GP for 2006. My question is how do other GPs and SPs get their DS87 envoy cert?
Thanks.

1. Out 10/5, back 10/10

2. US2 (Gold), but CP after this one!!!!

3. Not Sure but ($400 RT, so it had to be down there)

4. Upgraded with a non-status DivMiles member on the way out
Nothing on the way back... though the Dublin staff were extra grumpy

5. No Cert... Coach Oversold (Sounds like it is often, I saw lots of tour group folks on board... tell them to remove their sticker once onboard!)

6. PHL-DUB full; DUB-PHL at least two empties...

7. Special Note.. Bathroom broke and the sign was in DUTCH! How long has it been broken...geez. Also the coach meal was only half edible. Staff seemed friendly. FA said the flight was almost always full, so why are we discontinuing it....

ITH-PHL-FCO. Out on 5 Oct. '05. One Silver/DM1 and one Gold/DM2. Cleared at check-in on first leg. Used miles. Envoy was full. So was coach.
