standby rules for award ticket?

I have a domestic award ticket for travel this week. It was issued about 6 weeks ago. I have no US Air status.

If I want to standby for an earlier flight on the same day, does the $100 fee still apply? Or am I so lucky that there is no standby fee for award tickets?

Thanks.

When I went to San Diego I changed my return date & time about 4 times with absolutely no hassle in August or fee. They specifically said that with a free ticket the ONLY question is availability.

I've done the same. The rules are that if the person or the city-pair doesn't change, the dates/times can change all over the place until the ticket expires (one year) at no additional cost.

Sorry to state the obvious, but I say this more for people searching in the future for this topic -- keep in mind that award tickets are capacity controlled. So while you can make changes easily within the rules, the seats still have to be available.

When you're talking same-day standby, this shouldnt be a problem if there are seats available.
