will this point transfer scheme work?

Say I have 100,000 US FF miles. I also have 100,000 Amex MR points. And I have 100,000 points in my NW account (these are fictitious numbers).

I would like to combine all of these to fly somewhere on NW.

Can I transfer the MR points to US, to get the combined total in US points? Then can I combine these with my NW account to purchase awards on NW?

Or are there any other clever ways of getting rid of the US and Amex points?

Thanks!

You can't combine US miles with NW. You can redeem US miles for some flights in NW (to Asia).

Yes, you can buy awards for NW travel USA-Asia which is what I want.

So you can't pool US miles with NW miles you already have? Okay...

If you transfer MR points into US, can you use the pooled total for buying awards? Are these transferred points treated any differently than regular US miles?

Thanks!

yes, you can do this. last year, i transferred in mr points and combined them with us points to get an award ticket on nw to asia. there was no way for me to combine my existing nw points into the transaction, though...
