Snow-kyo

It's snowing hard here at NRT. I'm in the FCL and it's as busy as I've ever seen it... all flights to the US this evening are delayed, some up to four hours.

It looks like I'll misconnect in SFO to BOS; ORD is a mess itself and not an option (flights full anyway). The friendly FCL agent is trying to get me on 800 to JFK, then JFK-IAD-BOS! (If I get on 800 I'll just bail out and cab it to LGA for the US Shuttle I think.) Otherwise, it's hang out at the SFO RCC for seven hours and take the redeye.

Even 881 NRT-BKK is four hours late -- those lucky soles will get there after 3am, which doesn't bode well for tomorrow's 882!

I was in the LHR Express just now - the BBC weather report summary said it was dry and sunny in Tokyo.

Hope you're OK, snow joke for you, I can tell!

Just goes to show you that even the wxguy can get messed up by the wx! I just wish the UNITED4F wireless network would stay up for more than five minutes at a time!

Well, at least they don't have to walk.

Seriously they can turn 881 around in BKK in two hours so 882 should not be affected.

I've gotten into BKK on 881 as late as 02:30. They keep the RCC open in NRT for everyone, and issue meal vouchers (up to 1,500 JPY at the nearby restaurant, go early before they close).

I noticed UA 880 to HNL was going to be 3 1/2 hours late leaving.

Good luck getting back to BOS.

Well that was cool! First time another FTer has PM'ed me while at a louge. We got together for a micro-do

Turns out he's heading to BOS too -- we work withiin a block of each other! But we're taking diverging routes -- we'll see who makes it first.

It's been snowing here in town all day. Nasty & slushy but most cabs seem to have chains on now. If a few cms of snow can wreck NRT, be glad the crews don't work at ORD or DEN.

Would you like an apple pie with that?

This is really cool. Now working on six hours...

The FCL agents just put out a huge tray of McDonald's filet-of-fish sandwiches and fries! In original McDonald's packages! Woo-hoo! (No ketchup though, but there's a large pitcher of tobasco ) And now there are Big Macs and Double Cheeseburgers too.

I am in Tokyo and can confirm that the snow is still coming down and is mostly slush (albeit alot of it). It should stop tomorrow.

What is the latest on 880? I'm taking that flight tomorrow in Business.

My wife is stuck in the NWA Worldclub trying to get on NW10 to HNL.
It hasn't been snowing for hours. My wife told me there is only 1 de-icer
available.

Kampai,
Klaxon

Same answers here at UA. NRT apparently has only one deicer, and while it was snowing, it couldn't keep up. Even though it has stopped snowing, there's a huge queue of flights that wants to escape!

If anyone's landside at T1, and wants to chat, I'm sitting with a couple of folks on the wall by the AA (i.e., ticket aisle A and B) counters. Look for an FT tag and a laptop sitting on a rollaboard.

Since it's weather related, is everyone just camping out at NRT? Is the airport setting up cots? They do in the U.S. when something like this happens.

What flight are you on?
