UA E+ vs AA MRTC
 

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone impartial had flown both AA MRTC and United Economy plus. which one do you prefer?

UA Economy Plus still gives you more legroom. MRTC is very inconsistent, some planes you get 35" seat pitch (F-100s) and on the MD-80s it depends where you sit in the plane.. some rows you get only an extra 1/2", some rows you get an extra 2".

Yep, but E+ is a crapshoot if you end up flying planes from the former Sh*ttle.

AA MRTC is at least consistent throughtout a plane.

I like both... but UA E+ and AA MRTC are the ONLY coach flights I would fly except under dire need.

At least AA removed two rows of coach seats and distributed the resulting 62-64 inches among the remaining seats, helping make coach trips in a 757 more bearable, regardless of seat location or FF status. MRTC is not the only issue keeping me loyal to AA, but it sure factors in.

UAPremierExec does make a good point about seat location on AA. Because of the fixed location of the overwing exits, MRTC results in some seats with lots more space and some seats with just some more space. However, I don't think any seats were moved just 1/2 an inch - I think the minimum improvement was more like an inch and a half.

For maximum MRTC, sit ahead of the exits on 737 and 757 and behind the exits on MD-80 and F-100, as fewer rows in those sections shared the 31 or 32 inches from the departed row of seats = much more room throughout those regions. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I always thought "Employee Class" was the flame-bait topic.

It certainly is, at least in UA country. I was thinking more along the lines of "two oligopolistic brands with subtle yet intractible differences between them, each of which has its zealots for whom no amount of debate will ever change their minds." Other examples include Coke/Pepsi, Nikon/Cannon, Ford/Chevy and Republocrat/Demoblican."

Regardless of exceptions which include among others:
- Shuttles
- Former TWA aircrafts
- A.Eagle / U.Express etc etc etc etc etc

I personally prefer E+ as it really offers more room to civilly use a laptop and it's at the front of the plane.
