SQ Lounge at NRT

Hey, just wanted to pass on the following...

I was connecting through Tokyo/Narita the other day, both RCCs were crowded and the food selection was pathetic, so I took a walk to see what other *A lounges I could find. The Singapore Airlines Silver Kris lounge at NRT is DEFINITELY worth the walk! (located near the AA and BA gates there) WOW! GREAT food selection, several computers with rather speedy internet access (relative to the UA workstations at the RCC), and I was the only one in the lounge for the entire hour I was there.

Although I missed out on the kewl beer dispenser which the RCC offers, the canned selection was nice. Huge variety of sodas, juices and bottled water. Several different fresh-made sandwiches (turkey, veggie and smoked salmon), some Japanese food things I didn't try, really soft giant chocolate chip cookies, fruit, chips and much more.

Best of all, I cashed in my diet and indulged in a half-pint of Chunky Monkey...They have a self-serve refrigerator stocked with nothing but BEN & JERRY'S.

Peace, quiet and Ice Cream...I didn't want to get on the plane to ORD!

Hmm, the one I went to was really small... it was in the Korean Air gate area around 11-18 in the middle round area, and is accessible by elevator.

There were noodles there though http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I'm assuming that you're both talking about the same Silverkris Lounge at NRT, unless there's more than one. I agree, it is very small, but the food selection is GREAT! I didn't notice that they had computers there, though. Where exactly are they located?

And they have champagne too, unlike the RCC...

Unagi1...you read my mind!!! I guess I know where we will be on our SIN run on May 17th (scratch that and make it May 18th by the time we get there...)

Any more hints for a three hour layover in NRT? We were planning on taking a shower, but now we might have to take a walk!!! Or one day in SIN???

Turn right when you go in, walk past the smorgasboard (don't grab anything http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ), another right past the fridge, and there you are.

I think it was the buffet that caused me to miss the computers - doh! and I wanted to check email and log on to Flyertalk too. But I ended up having two cups of noodles http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

For 3 hours in NRT thats not really time enough to leave the terminal. After you go thru transit security (with perhaps a line although it moves pretty fast), take a shower (you may have a wait, although I've always gotten right in), examine the wonderous workings of the beer machine in the RCC, then wander back to the SQ lounge to sample their nice snacks and a bit of bubbly, hit a few of the shops, its not like you'll have tons of extra time. I do recommend a bowl of the "Tan Tan" Ramen at the little noodle shop directly across from the larger of the NRT RCCs.

As for a day in SINgapore, there are tons of threads with suggestions from those who have done trips in the last year or so.

Have fun on your trip!

I will absolutely try the SQ lounge at NRT for my SIN run on 5/24 & 5/27. Thanks for the info!

BTW, a dumb question - do I need to bring a towel for the shower in RCC? Is there any fee?

ColoBill1 May 2, 2002 12:12 am

FlyMan: Towels are provided and there is not a fee for a shower in the NRT RCC. Each is a spacious "shower suite".

Wish this topic came up earlier as I was at the NRT RCC yesterday... food selection was non-existant and I couldn't find any computers around. The only bright side was the cool shower suite!

Thanks for the info, ColoBill1.

Thanks for the info unagi1!!! We are very excited.

There are two PCs for internet access; they are located at far left on lower level, opposit of show suites.

Shower suite was great! I was feeling a lot better after after 17-18 hrs of traveling. Make sure you sign up as soon as you get to the NRT.

I'll be checking out SQ loung on my back to IAD later this month...

The two things I recommend packing for your NRT RCC shower usage are a comb/brush and deodorant. Every time I've been there, they have had quite a few toiletries for your use, but not a comb/brush, or deodorant. We went and bought both at the little convenience store near the UA gates.
