First time 1K - SWU question

I became 1K a month ago, without the DEQM promo by completing 100 segments. I thought members get couple of SWUs when they become 1Ks... is that not correct?

You get them (6) next year. If you make it to 150K this year, you will get 2 deposited for this year. The rest are coming in January 2010. Happy flying!

Do first time 1K's get the early deposit option, or is that only for renewing 1K's?

(If UA offers what they have in the past few years, 1K's get the option of have 4 of the 6 SWU's deposited in October/ November on this year/ 2009).

Yes (was a "new" 1K last year)

which reminds me - expiry date of early SWUs

I seem to recall that when I asked for them early one year they then expired 12 months later - not at the end of the following January. Is my memory wrong on this or not?

That is correct, but why ask for them unless you plan to use them relatively soon.

If you choose to have 2 SWUs deposited early be forewarned: They claim it will take 3-5 business days and it took 1. My attempt to have them deposited in early Nov resulted in October expiration.

What happens if you are 1K this year and ask for the SWUs to be deposited earlier during this calendar year, yet you havent requalified yet (or worse, you dont even make 1K for next year)?

Do UA pull the SWUs if you have applied them?

If not, does this mean non qualifying 1Ks can get their hands on SWUs they havent technically earned for Jan 2010?

As far as I know, no one can ask for early SWU deposit until there is such a plan announced by UA, usually around Oct-Nov time frame. To qualify for early deposit, you must qualify as 1K for the next program year.

I am also a new 1K this year. Question: if we make the 150K and get the 2 SWUs this year (2009), do we have to use them or lose them by Dec. 31, 2009? I ask becuase the flight that would get me to 150K would very likely be my last for 2009, in December '09, -- so obviously it wouldn't help much if I had the 2 SWUs deposited just to lose them a few days later...

Thanks!

It is rolling 12 months from the SWU deposit month. If you get your 2 SWUs in 12/2009, it will expires in 12/2010.
