DEN 1K Room

I was in the DEN 1K room yesterday,(Friday) for about 2-3 hours, and was surprised to see soooo few 1K's. I went there to visit some agents,Frank and Reenie both had taken the day off, so AnnaMarie and Chris were filling in. The afternoon crew,(Connie and Coleen), were there. I was disappointed that I didn't see any Friday "regulars". How come?? I really miss you 1K's! Karen http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Hi, Karen -

I was in the DEN 1K room last Saturday (30th) morning, and was the only customer in the place. We chatted about you, by the way - couldn't believe it has been as long as it has since you retired.

Five times in March was enough for me.

Some schools do Spring break the week after Easter, some the week before.

Tell you what, pick any random Thursday afternoon with a week's notice, and then see how we do!

Hi Karen!

If I known you were going to be there, I would have booked a flight http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif ... seriously, I don't get to DEN as much as I used to because they only fly regional jets to EUG so I try to avoid it unless I am flying out of PDX. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

But I will be in DEN in two weeks and have a question. What hotels are near the airport? I am Hilton & Hyatt Diamond and Starwood Gold, so I prefer those, and I don't do too well with freeway noise.

Thanks!

The airport proper is outside the city in the middle of nothing. None of the airport hotels are next door to the airport, but most of the major chains are a short shuttle van ride away (not Hyatt though.) I've stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn several times when I had early morning flights the next day. The hotels are all on the highway or the main access roads to the airport.

PS Go Beavers!

There's a quite nice Embassy Suites (good for Hilton!) that's about 15 minutes from the airport--in the first cluster of hotels off Pena Blvd. UA put me up there once as part of a bump... not bad.

Oregon Flyer!
You are sooo nice! I never stayed at a hotel near DIA for pleasure, but with some unaccompanied kids I have. The Hilton Garden Inn is nice-so is the Marriott. There is an Applebee's next to those two. If you stay off Tower Road, there are several smaller places,Holiday Inn Express. Comfort Inn, Hampton Inn(good continental breakfasts). There is brand new Bennigan's across the street. The Moonlight diner has good food and also a bar. How's my Chamber of Commerce info? I'm leaving for Cabo on the 4th of May, that's the next time I'll be at the airport- too early to see anyone tho. Take care!

Karen: I really thought we had a Frick-in-the-making with Coleen, but sadly she's put in for FA training. I'm still going to drag her to MSY, though, kicking and screaming, if necessary.

What will it take to create another Karen? Electicity and "Abby Normal's" brain?

Thanks for all the hotel tips. Much appreciated.

Closer to the airport there is a Courtyard. The Marriott is very nice.

If you don't need to be at the airport, the Hyatts are incredible. Mr. Boulder and I love Hyatt DTC (Denver Tech Center).

Up for a DEN meeting anyone??? Obviously you are more than welcome to our neck of the woods... We have the gourgeous Omni and they are building a Renaissance. The Westin Westminster is wonderful!!!

At the DEN 1K room now, and I made the mistake of mentioning Matt Wald's name to Connie. Somehow I immediately got downgraded and placed at the rock bottom of the DM list.

I hear frick is pushin's weenies or something at some sports center just to raise some extra bingo money or something. Glad to hear retirement can still be productive! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

PremEx - in Denver? You realize that the Kings are playing the Avs in a Game 7. Get out the airport and go get yourself a ticket. I am sooooooooo jealous.

I am in the DEN 1K room several times per month - it rarely has more than one or two other customers, and often I am the only one. I hope they don't close it!

hobson Apr 30, 2002 9:34 pm

I've seen fewer folks than previously in the DEN 1K room. Usually is busier around dinner time.
