Opinions - old first or new business?

I have a choice - I can use a SWU and go in first on a 777 from LAX to LHR, or I can go in business, connect in Chicago and have the new configuration the whole way.

Which would you do? Is the new business better than the old first?

Is the first lounge in LAX okay?

Thanks!

I would do F on a non-stop without any hesitation - the F suite is much more spacious than the new C and you have much more storage around your seat. Plus you can have food when you want (not a big issue on LAX-LHR) and the wines are better too.

Do you plan on flying Y later this year?
If yes, then save SWUs.
If not, even old F suite is much better than new C.

Old F on non-stop definitely on a flight heading E overnight

Without a doubt, I would go with F on the n/s.

thumbs up on the F

If you can get into old F - definitely take it. New C is great, just did it LAX-NRT-LAX, but having done that route in old F last summer, you'll be perfectly comfortable in old F, with a bit more room as someone said.

The two women who worked the F lounge in LAX last summer are awesome! Really missed them this time around when just in the RCC. From the Int'l F lounge, they'll escort you to the plane. So nice. The food was decent for what it was. Also nice to have the lounge mostly to yourselves as I didn't find it very crowded.

Next trip will be in F again!

Old F is still F...love the lounges, the food, and the service.

New C is not bad, but it's no F.

Now you have me wanting to talk int'l F again!

I agree that F is still F, and new C is bit narrow for my taste.

The only time I would pick new C over old F is if I don't plan to sleep and want to watch the IFE the entire way.

The distance between LAX/NRT and LAX/LHR are almost the same...that is a long time in an airplane to just the watch IFE the entire time.

I pick F.

Do you plan to (are you able to) sleep most of the flight?
Yes ----> Old F
No -----> New C

Do you have another use for the SWU?
Yes ----> New C
No -----> Old F

The difference in food and service is negligible, in IFE substantial, in bed small (old F wider and more private).

F trumps C anytime in my book, be it old or new!

Heck, I would go one step further:

Old F > New F > New C > Old C

I actually like Old F better than New F. Seat goes forward and back independently, whereas new F does not. Old F allows you to exit the seat with table up. New F does not. So long as the old F cushions are in OK shape (not always true!) then the old F is great.

I absolutely agree with you, plus with the new F, there is no storage except for the tiny compartment by your head.

You must have been in one of the middle section seats? The window seats do have a rather small storage bin below the windows. Middle section seats do not. Also, both do have moderate size bins on the aisle, as I recall.

But true, new F has much more limited 'at your fingertips' storage.

I've found more than enough storage available seat-side for both old and new F. I think the new F bed is a bit bigger than the old. The IFE/related systems are way better on the new F. I like new F a little bit better than old F, but they are close, IME.
