UAX - "struck work"?
 

If a strike is called and United aircraft are grounded, is any flying by United Express considered "struck work", as the mechanics at those airlines would be "helping" United while fellow mechanics are off the job?

No. The term struct work in general applies to specific routes that one carrier flies, not flying in general.

Struck work was a bad way to put it. I'm just wondering if mechanics at the UAX carriers would continue without a slowdown if we have a full-blown strike. I guess the bigger question is, what happens to UAX flying if United comes to a halt? Sure some of it is non-UA travel (like ROC-IAD-CHS or PHX-LAX-OAK), but what's the point of feeding the hubs if there's nothing to feed to?

UAX will come in handy if the only available seats on other carriers are to a UAX station, when the passenger is headed for a UA hub.

Aside from that, UAX probably would have extra seats. However, I believe the "struck work" means they can't temporarily switch PHX-LAX-OAK into PHX-SFO-SEA, for example.
