Mileage Plus Will Not Honor Dash Commitment

As you may recall back in 2001, http://www.dash.com closed it's doors. At that time they posted a message that any prior purchases made to the June 22, 2001 closing will be honored.

They instructed us to send in the prrof of purchases to a particular address in NY and mileage will be credited within 6 months.

I contacted M+ to see where my 2,000+ miles are. They told me to fax the information in and if all was legit, they would credit.

I received a return e-mail back:

Since a promise was made, M+ should honor it.

Anybody else had this happen?

Perhaps a call to UAL Consumer Relations is in order. Anybody have the toll free number?

Dash was unrelated to United. They simply bought miles from United and rewarded them to customers for purchases. Any company can do this from the United web site. Because of this, the company that owes you the miles in Dash, not United. As an example, assume a car company offers you a govt savings bond as an incentive to purchase a car from them. You purchase the car, and the company subsequently goes bankrupt and you never get your savings bond. Is the U.S. Govt responsible to get you that savings bond? Of course not, the company you entered into an agreement with was the car company and they are completely responsible.

And valuemags is unrelated to Goldpoints in your opinion I suppose.

And Goldpoints should not post any disputed points for valuemags purchases through the Goldpoints site in your opinion too I suppose.

A partner is a partner. If the partner was advertised on the other partner's website, then some sort of coopertation has to be given in situations such as this.
