Status of UA's 777 Conversion to new International First, Business and Economy Seats

Have the AC on this route been reconfigured? I need to decide between 777 and 744. (I have had recent [positive] experience with the lie flat seating in 744.)

No, none of the 777s have been converted yet and will not be until later this year.

None of the 777's have been reconfigured yet - so if you're looking for the new seats, go for the 744.

None of the 777's have been re-config and many (2/3) of the 747 have (SFO-FRA 747 is typically new config)
See http://flyerguide.com/wiki/index.php...sions_%28UA%29 for the stats

My last two trips in Jan and Feb on 900/901 were both new config 747, so I would choose that one.

the new 747's are great! the seats will be the same in the 777 so I doubt you will notice much difference.

ADDED. when the 777 gets the NEW seats they were to be the same seat as the 747. So I was trying to say to the OP I doubt there would be much difference in seat comfort. hopefully thats clears up my post.

I think we will.
777 is 20' 4" across and 747 is 21' 4" across while both are 2-4-2 (in case of 744 downstairs).
So it will mean seats will be narrower on the 777 (by 1.5"), aisle will be narrower by 6" each or combination of both seat and aisle being narrower.

I would guess that the aisle on 777 would be a little narrower to keep the seat configuration the same. Cheaper to build one type of seat than 2 types of seats that are physically slightly different.

not so. Even today the C seats on 777 and 747 are identical, only the 767 has the narrow ones, on the new configs all widebodies will have the same exact seat.

Best E+ Seats on New Config 777?

w/r/t Economy on the 777 (the new business class config). Can anyone recommend the best E+ seat for a very tall passenger? It looks to me that it comes down to row 20 or row 33. Seat Guru says that row 20 AB/JK have extra legroom due to the bulkhead, while row 33 AB/JK have extra legroom due to the emergency exit. It seems that maybe 33 would be best -- but row 20 is away from the toilets - a nice plus.... Any thoughts?
