So is the plan to focus on updating the entire europe-bound fleet and then move on to the asia-bound fleet? I guess that would make sense since the new lie-flat seat would be more likely to convince someone to switch from a european carrier, but probably not switch from an asian carrier.

I hate this (even though the competition point may be correct), because the TPAC routes are typically much longer, and so the seat makes a bigger difference.

Apologies if this has been confirmed on a previous page but:

1. What sort of business class seat + layout will happen in the former CO planes?
2. Apart from operational changes, which routes/ regions do the 747's run on generally?
3. Will we be able to upgrade to Business using MP miles in 2011 using CO flights and be treated as "same airline", rather than *A partner?

1. No one here knows yet as nothing has been announced.

2. The unitedcargo.com site has a wide body schedule: http://www.unitedcargo.com/utilities/schedules.jsp

3. AFAIR, nothing has been announced yet.

For #3, the programs are supposed to run separately for 2011 and be combined for 2012 so I would expect the answer to be No

Thank you both very much. For No 2 looks like the 747's run across the Pacific, with the European exception being FRA.

Did a conversion disappear??

Just doing my weekly check on the progress of United's 777 conversion and it looks like one of the planes being converted has 'disappeared'??

http://flyerguide.com/wiki/index.php...nversions_(UA)

Last week they had two aircraft 'in progress' with one due back in service today. Took a quick look and the tally of conversions bumped up one from 7 to 8 but the second aircraft which has been listed as in progress for weeks no longer shows?

Anyone have any idea what might have happened? Maybe just an update error?

Hmm. N797UA became an XQ and so it was moved down to the next table.

But why is N795UA no longer highlighted in yellow, as being under conversion? Was the color erroneously removed (by the same editor who had incorrectly listed N797UA as being converted to XJ rather than XQ)? Or was this a "false alarm" where the plane went into the shop but came out with only a paint job and not a cabin refit?

N795UA never went in for conversion, not sure why it showed as being in progress.

I posted information yesterday concerning the latest one to pop out (N797UA) and its routing but for some reason it was deleted. I guess I'll stop posting.

I can assure you that no recent post of yours was deleted by any of the volunteer moderations of this forum. Are you referring to this one?

Approximate completion date?

I imagine some estimates are in here, but I've done a quick search and can't find any, so...

Based on the rate at which UA is doing the conversions, any best guesses re when all the 777s will be finished? We have an F trip SFO-NRT-SFO scheduled for late October 2011. I imagine the process won't be completed by then, and understand that it looks like the TATL routes are being mostly done first, but would still like to get a sense of where things might stand.

Thanks!

Great! Thanks very much.

One thing I'm unclear on from the link: It says, "Additionally 14 others will be modified separately as part of heavy maintenance visits in coming years." Any sense of whether this means the conversion could thus extend past 2012?

So, the people who guessed a completion date of 2012 way back in 2008 (rathe than UA's stated completion date of 2009) may have been right after all!

Or maybe it will actually be 2013!
