Yeah, my parents had a 747 on the same route around the same time switch to a 777. I'm wondering if I should be hoping for a new 777 for them (with the risk of a downgrade) or not ...

Looks like the chance 77Q on LAX-NRT is quite low for now. As others have mentioned in previous posts, UA will primarily put 77Q to LHR. Once all LHR flights can fully be covered by 77Q, DXB is probably the next.

yes checking unitedcargo is the way to go (and even on day of departure due to any a/c swaps) but use the flight schedule link vs the flight status link as the flight schedule link will show the actual equipment [and is updated better than flight status as sometimes that is either blank or shows erroneous equipment]

77Qs for SFO-FRA (926/927) by summer 2011?

Does anyone have thoughts on the likelihood of new 777s (77Qs) on SFO-FRA-SFO (926/927) in June, July, and August 2011?

I suspect United plans to have 77Qs on this route by then. But given the conversion rate (4 or 5 done in 6 or 7 months, right?), I'm unsure.

OTOH, I'd say around 20%. Since they already have the new config 747 on this route, there's really no rush to get the 777.

It's been five months, and we have five aircraft done. If they continue with the reconfiguring, maybe we will see another three done this year.

BTW, has another 77 entered the shop yet?

Good point. And if the 77Qs are more likely to have the new livery, maybe I'd rather they assign them to other routes anyway. Yikes.

UA 976 and 977 (IAD - DXB - IAD) are displaying the newly reconfigured 777 beginning Nov. 15. My husband and I are flying that route Nov. 16 and I discovered the change when I was checking our itinerary. Called United - it's true. Hoping for no last minute change.

Any hopes for 902 IAD - MUC, originating in DEN? It's an overnight overwater flight - always filled with skiers (us) and German business people.

Not to be pedantic, but if it wasn't over water how would it get there!

Yes, there is hope. When we would be the question... I'd be surprised if it was before the end of Q1'11 on any regular schedule.

I'm scheduled to be on UA 988 on 10/10/10 DEN-LAX, apparently the new config will be used. does UA use all the three classes on domestic runs? What are my upgrade chances? it seems, per .bomb, the flight is very open in Y, not sure about F and/or C...i'd love to try the new C!!!

Yes, they use all 3. Probably good since this isn't a prime FF route on a Sunday, but depends as usual on status, fare, etc.

Since UA does not "usually" fly this route with a 3 class bird its kind of hard to say. But I just went on .bomb and it shows that the flight is being sold with J service so, if you can get upgraded then you will experience J service. Currently there is 26 open seats in J, and 6 days till departure, you should be able to make the upgrade. The nice thing really about this flight is, the seats, the meal service isn't really all that special.
