Pay full Y or B, or buy C, then you don't have to worry about the co-pay

As an FYI, Seats are TSO'd and can be delivered at any time under the TSO approval process. There is currently no TSO approval process for IFE equipment. Therefore, it needs to have a PMA letter from the FAA prior to shipping for aircraft 2 and on.

http://www.suitedreams.united.com/ shows the routes with upgraded cabins. The LAX-LHR direct is not on the list. Could try going thru ORD or IAD and catching one of the upgraded cabins from there to LHR. On the LAX-ORD or LAX-IAD might have a chance with a UDU for part of the flight.

When did a third SFO-LHR get added? There haven't been three flights a day from SFO-LHR since about 2002.

Never trust it. It's rarely updated.

And will this ship have Continental paint with United lettering? Or might it be the last repaint in the United "tulip" scheme?

I misspoke. You are correct, there are only two.

There are exactly 46 3-class 777s.

It ferries from Korea to SFO on May 19 in the blue/white tulip livery.

N782UA on the same day starts it's IPTE retrofit, also in SFO.

How much does it cost to ferry a 777 from Korea to SFO?

Obviously TPTB and/or the bean counters have run the numbers and found it to be more cost effective, but it nevertheless seems strange that it's cheaper to fly a jet half-way (ok, exaggerating here) around the world to get a new paint job than to do it "locally".

Probably the same economics as importing a majority of our products from China vs. mfg here in the US. Nothing strange about it at all.

Yeah, I know. But assuming the cost of materials isn't substantially different in Korea compared to the US, how much cheaper is labor in Korea and how much of it is required to paint a big jet that it's worth paying for the aircraft to be flown back and fort?

After all, I am not shipping my car to China for a new paint job, the local Maaco will do just fine (probably delivering the same crappy job we've seen on some UA jets recently).
