I wish UA would at least add a seatmap, or update the website!!

It is getting a bit annoying to see it say "B777-200 seatmaps coming fall 2009"!

Can't even imagine how much money you must spend buying media you'll only watch one time...The cost of buying all that media is huge if you want it on your own device. A trip to SE Asia or India from the US can put you in the air over 40 hours. Thanks, but I'll take the AVOD.
Of course if you take 2-3 hour flights and steal your media, the picture might look different.

I'm not exactly sure why they're not giving any information - my best guess is that since the 777 modification was pushed back for several months and they are taking their time with the first one to make sure it's perfect, they don't want to set a specific date for the roll-out. I have a feeling that once the first model is finished United will promote it heavily to lure business travelers away from other airlines in the int'l market.

The only thing I have heard is about the seating config from the UnitedPR person on Twitter...
"777 reconfig coming. 1st done early April, subsequent 2b completed more quickly. config is 8/40/218 & 8/40/221 depending on subfleet."

Have you read this thread? So many "insiders" have posted contradictory information I've lost count. It's getting worse than the Tiger Woods threads in Omni. With all due respect to the "insiders", unless they go on the record as representing UA, as accurate as their information may have been in the past, it is unconfirmed rumor at best.

Believe what you want. Those of us who read the forum know exactly who to believe and know what's going on well before UA announces anything, and we've offered you the knowledge as well, though you choose to ignore it instead. If you choose to live in the dark and wait until UA chooses to reveal what we already know, that's your prerogative, but many of us are comfortable knowing what's really happening.

Steal media, 2-3 hour flights, OK??? Actually, I simply hit a download button on my PC that automatically transfers (can even do the transfers while I am sleeping-wow) TIVO shows, movies w/o ripping, stealing, to my PC for free. I always take my PC on business/vacation trips anyway and much prefer the high res, larger screen than what I get on UAL. I watch what I want and no interruption every 10 minutes in German/English, Italian/English...

Any idea which route?
The first 777 is being done right now with 8 more completed this year, 16 in 2011, and 7 in 2012. They're taking their time with the first one as the 777 IPTE will be the "flagship" of the fleet so to speak. The first one should be rolling out at the end of this month - I can't wait to see it!

Don't know if it is posted anywhere else on United.com but a simple search for 777 IPTE came up with this link from January 2010.
"Press Release
United Completes B747 International Fleet Upgrade
United Airlines has successfully completed the conversion of all 24 Boeing 747-400 aircrafts, featuring fully lie-flat beds in United First and United Business. The International Premium Travel Experience (IPTE) provides consistent space and flight comfort on the Boeing 747-400, as well as on all 21 aircraft from the Boeing 767-300 series. United Airlines now begins with the conversion of the entire Boeing 777 fleet, which includes a total of 46 jets.
The IPTE B747s have 12 United First suites, 52 United Business lie-flat seats, 70 United Economy Plus seats with 5 inches more legroom and 240 United Economy seats. All 24 planes in the active B747 fleet have been repainted - 23 feature the new United livery and one is in the new Star Alliance design."

I am amazed by the inquisitive minds of those who keep wanting more information on the 777 reconfigurations. Are there better things out there that are more interesting to spend time on?
Why should UA need to provide the minute-by-minute reality TV-type of updated information to the public. I don't see people complaining about lacking detailed progress report on their favorite rental car company's fleet update program or looking for new room layout of a refurbished hotel properties.
So what if UA provides that information? Does it really matter and make a difference for people who fly because they have to fly. The slowness of its 777 reconfiurgation has not impacted hundreds and thousands of flyers who have to fly for work. Do you think they worry about when and what seats they will be sitting in versus earning a living to put food on the table.
I think some of the postes in this forum are going overboard a little. Go analyze the ever changing healthcare reform bills or go figure next NFL draft.
