ORD-PEK
I'm planning on flying ORD-PEK this May. Any idea if this flight will be converted by then?

The whole reason why UA had to switch from 2-5-2 to 3-3-3 was because of the IFE, (see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...d-3-3-3-e.html) so it stands to reason it will have AVOD. Now as to how much it will cost the pax to use ...

My guess is, however, that UA Engineering and Maintenance will want to see this aircraft after each cycle in order to identify any items that can be corrected for follow on aircraft. The nature of a prototype aircraft is to identify issues now so that you don't have them propogate into 30 aircraft (which would be more costly to fix later).

Multiple reliable UA employees and well-connected FTers have indicated both of these to be true. If you're waiting for an official press release, you'll probably have to wait until after the first plane is already flying.

I have a ORD-AMS flight in May. Its designated as a 777; however, currently the schedule is a 767 which has been converted.
I assume they seasonally adjust equip for demand. Wonder if these flights will get the new 777....
