Hey basenji ! How many miles do YOU fly in a year?

I was wondering if, by chance, you even bother to keep track?

And, how many miles per year does the average pilot/FA fly? I am interested more in the number of miles traveled, rather than the number of hours flown. Thanks!

Furthermore, I was wondering if FTers fly even more than you...???

Great question... I too would be curious to know...

I flew a lot of hours in November, and I figure I racked up 39,007 miles. All domestic.

I estimate that I would average anywhere between 30,000 and 40,000 a month. When I used to do a transcontinental commute (2 or 3 times a month) it would push it up well over 45,000 (of course, I wasn't working on my commuter flights).

A typical 2-day trip for a flight attendant might me something like this - LAX-ORD-MCO, then MCO-DEN-LAX. 5157 miles, and you do it 6 or 7 times a month for a total of 30,942 or 36,099.

International flights don't necessarily mean a lot more miles....for example you would work the 3-day SEA-NRT-SEA trip 4 times a month - 38,152.

Hmm, so I guess this means a hardcore road warrior can actually fly more than an FA.

During the top 20k flier promotion by AA, the top winner flew over 350k actual miles within a 4 month period!

This just proves that all the flying by the hardcore road warriors are just plain unhealthy, as FAs get the rest time that one needs and if anyone is flying more than the FAs, they're obviously not.

Not that flying, say, CX First is exactly too much a pain... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Yes, there are people who fly more than the crew does in a month.....I know someone who flew JFK-SFO-SYD-SFO-JFK every week for three months. Insanity! And some of the domestic road-warriors have it even worse than that!

I really feel for these folks - my wife for example will sometimes spend a week - EWR - IAD - Harrisburg - Boston - Augusta - EWR. Especially in the Northeast, these flights are always delayed, cancelled, etc... The kind of flying I do which is all long haul commuting (to SFO & back) is a breeze by comparison.

For FA's add in the variable of mal-adjusted passengers, etc.... arrggh!
