$1500 all in LAX to SYD. I really don't think it was anything special.

For Y fares, not as great as they were earlier this year, but for W fares for anywhere between $1200-1400 from SFO depending on dates, pretty darn good, since most W fares I have found are in the $1600-$1900 range.

As long as you have one of the approved documents, yes. Just note that the list of approved documents for entering Canada is not the same as the list of approved documents for entering the U.S.
