New crackdown on carry-ons (11/14)?
I was on a flight ORD-DFW this morning and the flight attendant made an announcement that starting tomorrow (11/14), carry-on restrictions would be enforced with new vigor. One item, either a purse ("for the ladies," she said) or one small briefcase ("for the gentlemen"-- I assume that "real" ladies aren't meant to carry briefcases?).
Anyone else heard this? My hunch is that it's an FA speaking her mind more than company policy. |
That makes no sense - it almost seems like they've changed the rule from one carry-on plus one personal item to only the personal item? I hope that's not the case!

...sorry...

That's not true... From what I know, no change is imminent to the "one carry on plus one personal item" rule. I think that FA just had too much coffee on his/her way to the airport.

maybe she meant one carry on plus the one briefcase/purse - i.e., not the equiv. of 2 full carryons like they have been doing on some flights

Sounds like this flight attendant was having a momentary fantasy with vigor....

Basenji's last post appears to settle it for me.

Would a small backpack and a smallish camera case be allowed ... or would I be better off putting the camera gear in the near empty bag and not having any problems?

I've just got to say-- this is why I love FlyerTalk. Thanks all for your replies-- basenji, I'm with you!
