UAL.com help
I am hoping some of you experts out there can help me. I am booked on a flight 11/1 PHL>IAD>MSY rtn 11/4 MSY>IAD>PHL. I was trying to find out how much the fares are now because I was thinking about taking my daughter along and I typed in the dates and times when my flights are and it comes up for the return portion, NO qualifying flights...I cant even find my flights at all on UAL...Does this mean they are all sold out or what ? (Maybe I can get bumped???) I am new to United so am not familiar with this site so please pardon my ignorance...Thanks

It might mean your flights no longer exist, as UA has announced they are dropping down to 69% of their pre-Sept 11 schedule. Generally the UA web site will show the flight as sold out and not available at the bottom of the flight listing. Probably the easiest way for you to check is to plot them out as one-way routings, for each individual segment, and see if the flights come up. If you still don't see them, it might be time to call UA and see if they can accomodate you on alternative flights (though I think basenji posted here that they would not have all the changes in place until Oct 20).

Yes Tom, you are quite right...I did call UA and was told my flights are GONE...I am extremely upset, I was due to leave MSY at 1:15 connecting at IAD and getting home to PHL at 6pm...now they have me connecting in Chicago and not getting home till almost midnight. This flight is NOT going to work for me, I cannot get in that late yet they tell me I have no options other then to change my day/time which I cannot do either because the now 1pm flight to IAD is overbooked by almost 50 due to the cancellation of the morning flight...This is a big mess and its not fair in my opinion. The outbound flight I am ok with on 11/1 but this return flight is not happening...I dont know what to do...or is there nothing I can do ??

You have a legal right to a refund if United is unable to accomodate you to your satisfaction. Quote rule 240 of United's contract of carriage.

Have you looked at alternative airports you can fly from rather than PHL? Would that make any difference (guess it might depend how far you'd want to drive, and if the flight times get you home any quicker)? They might work with you on this if you can come up with an option.
When they cancelled my SJC-ORD flights, I rerouted out of SFO without any charge, rather than going earlier out of SJC.
You can always ask if they can put you on another carrier, but I suspect they are not required to do that. Nothing hurt by asking. Just have all your options researched before you call back. It may come down to a refund being your best option in the end.
