Back on topic:
I have another LAX-OGG-LAX MR in a few weeks (some of you are still laughing at my account of the snafus I ran into last time and I will be certain to request a mai-tai, JUST SO I CAN CELEBRATE THEIR RETURN--even though I can't stand 'em.

Just got off of Flt 44 this evening. First class went out full. Best guess, 6 late upgrades at the gate. Sparkling wine and mai tais served throughout the flight. FA's said that this was a permanent fix. Time will tell.

Just got off UA 75 SFO-HNL and the sparking was Brut D'Argent.
UA in their nickel and diming loaded 5 bottles for a full First Class cabin of that - 40+ or whatever on a 777, and served it as pre-dep.
In flight I had one glass and after that .. i.e. 45 mins into 5+ hour flight it was gone.
So FA's needed to tell all those asking for a refill "we ran out". Talk about Cheapskates .. and LOOKING with cheapskate's due to simple porro planning.
So then I asked for a Mai Tai.
Got told (by purser who served me) "they are coming back in March".
Asked if she might check if they were in fact loaded, and she came back and say "You are right - they are".
Had one .. uses Mrs T mix. She too lamented the demise of Trader Vic's
Boarding UA 2 for ORD now so will update on that later!

On SFO-HNL they had the special white UA Hawaiian toothpicks with huge chunk of pineapple and a cherry type thing.
We had a couple each an the thought crossed my mind the white spears would sell for a few bucks each on ebay to the 100s of collectors of UA memorabilia.
On the HNL-ORD UA#2 we jut stepped off, there was also the Brut D'Argent loaded (Approx $14 a bottle retail)

Which did not appear to run out, but it was a red eye arriving 5am in ORD, so most folks were asleep.
They also had Mrs T Mai Tai mix on the cart.

Data point .. said to the FA HNL-ORD that it was good to see Sparkling back, and he rolled his eyes and said "yes but tomorrow they are just as likely not to load it .. it is like that lately".

I can confirm mai tai mixes were being stocked last week on LAX departures. And plenty on HNL return.

Yes, that's the same stuff they were serving before it went away, and that's what they have on the Maui flights as well.
When they only board 2 bottles, that isn't enough. Haven't see it as a pre-departure beverage yet.
But some is better than none!

I am not a Mai-Tai drinker; however years ago when I did indulge on one of my family trips back home - I was pleasantly surprised at how lish they were...:-)

Hmm, got bumped off of my LAX to KOA flight last week due to a cancellation out of here but? Didn't have MaiTai's on KOA to SFO on the way back either. Ah well.

That’s good news!
I kind of missed the Mai Tais during the last months …
one more reason to look forward to my next week’s SFO-HNL

Flying in early February, I just missed these! Drat!
(That said, I'd be surprised if UA can make a decent Mai-Tai. It's a actually a pretty complicated drink and difficult to get right. It took a lot of work to perfect my personal recipe! )
