To paraphrase the Steven Wright joke:

I went down the corridor to the 24-hour RCC.
When I got there, the guy was locking the front door.
I said, "Hey, the sign says you're open 24 hours."
He said, "Yes, but not in a row."

Is it a hotel you're looking for or a lounge?

Unfortunately not. All the RCCs at IAD close at 9:30pm (if I recall correctly).

The LH senator lounges advertise 'sleep seats', so maybe there isn't that much of a difference.....

To the OP -- I think it's wishful thinking, and I can assure you that if 24-hour lounges existed, the MR community would have a lot more fun!!!!

There are tons a short cab ride away (some with shuttles to the airport I'm sure). Here's a google listing -- I don't know which has the best price -- As far as I can recall in driving back and forth to IAD, all are fairly new (like within 10 years) as the area by Dulles has exploded in recent years:

A. Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles - marriott.com - (800) 635-5666

B. Extended Stay America Washington, DC - Centreville - www.extendedstayamerica.com - (703) 988-9955

C. Homestead Studio Suites Hotel - www.homesteadhotels.com - (703) 263-3361

D. Comfort Suites Chantilly - www.comfortsuites.com - (703) 263-2007

E. Chantilly Wingate by Wyndham Hotels - www.wingatehotels.com - (571) 203-0999

F. Holiday Inn Select Chantilly-Dulles-Expo (Arpt) Hotel - www.holidayinn.com - (877) 863-4780

G. SpringHill Suites Centreville Chantilly - marriott.com - (703) 815-7800

H. Hyatt Place Chantilly/Dulles Airport-South - hyattplacedullesairportsouth.com - (703) 961-8160

I. Extended Stay America Washington, DC - Chantilly - www.extendedstayamerica.com - (703) 263-7173

J. Holiday Inn Select Chantilly-Captl Expo Center - www.hiselect.com - (703) 815-6060

Edit: these are Centreville/Chantilly hotels. can also google Herndon and get very close hotels.

AND there is also a hotel right at the airport http://www.marriott.com/hotels/trave...port-marriott/

Try the Hyatt Place Dulles or Sheraton Dulles both opened in the last month, rates should be cheaper than most. Both are next to the Hyatt Dulles and are the second closet hotel's to the airport after the Marriott on the airport property.
