Question of Arriving Late, Fare rules???

I have a question.. Suppose you purchased a ticket from SNA-DEN-MSP on a Saturday returning MSP-DEN-SNA on Thursday. You get to the airport late on Saturday, missing the last flight out, nothing until Sunday AM.

1.) Would United re-accomodate you on Sunday AM flight?
2.) Since it violates the Saturday Stay over rule, would you be re-fared or just accomdated?
3.) Anyone have experience with this?

Depends on the agent. Reservations will definitely re-fare you. Aiport CSRs have more leeway.

Chances are that you will get refared since it violates min/max rules. If you were to miss a Thursday night flight, they will more likely put you on the Friday morning flight without hassle.

I just tried moving my return up one day (monday up to sunday). Reservations will refare if the ticket has not been used or charge $100 if the outbound has been used.

RCC agent did it for free but she did research the fare a bit before changing the date.

Yes, Hmmmm I guess if you arrive at the airport late for your flight you would be SOL? (out of luck?) Hmmmm I better be careful on the outbound on Saturday departures.. otherwise.. could cost me like $1000 or so...

Generally most airlines have a rule that if you show up for your flight within two hours of the departure (you need to make sure that the check in doesn't close before you get there), then you will be re-accomodated on the next available flight, even if it's the next morning. You need to make sure that you make an excuse, not that you just didn't want to take the flight you were on. If you show up more than 2 hours later, you are at the total mercy of the agent.

You need to confirm that UA goes by this rule, but most U.S. airlines do.
