Crew Seating On A 3 Class 777

I was able to snag 18J on a 3 class 777 for a relative. The seat map here says it is an Economy Plus seat, however, it states "crew seating".

I was surprised they opened it up to a non elite discounted fare flyer.

Therefore, my question is are there any advantages or disadvantages to this so called crew seat that's assigned???

I think it depends if the flight is an international flight or a domestic flight. I take it that the flight is a domestic one, where the crew seats aren't used. They're only used on international routes. I think they're pretty much the same as regular seats, except that a curtain goes around the area when the crew uses it. Otherwise, for domestic flights, they take the curtain away.

So the seats truly are Economy Plus and feature personal seat videos, etc?

Yes, it's a domestic flight!

These seats have more leg room than traditional Y+ seats. They have removed a row, so the pitch will resemble that of C class seats.

The three flights I've taken with this configuration all have had in-seat video and all other amenities available in these seats. Of course, your mileage may vary. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Many of the 3 class 777s do not yet have Economy Plus seating, so don't get too excited yet.

I think I sat in row 18 on EZE-MIA and it sure wasn't E+!

Also, the crew rest seats on the non E+ planes are in a different location (I think in the back of the forward coach cabin, not the front), so the lack of E+ may explain why you are getting a crew seat assigned if the flight is international.
