Fight between two FA on TransPac Flight
While seated near the galley on a747 out of SYD a LOUD argument ensued between two UA FAs regarding the future of the airline.
I was surprised when the prurser joined in. All three were condeming the management of the airline saying they were selling the airline, unionized staff and pax down the river with their extremely bad management. Has anyone else witnessed this kind of behavior on a flight? (Enter UA flak telling me that I have no idea what I am talking about and the airline is doing great things....) |
Completely unacceptable. I would contact 1P Voice with specifics (flight number, names, etc.) and let them know how this disrupted your flight/travel. While I agree with the FAs re: management, an apparent public display such as this is unacceptable.

Fight? You mean there was a FA defending management, and willing to raise their voice over it? Or by "fight" do you just mean it was a shouting match to see who could be the most angry? I don't really know enough to way in on the issue they were fighting about, but I always just assume the unionized FAs universally hate the execs. That is tragically how it so often goes between unionized labor and management.
This reminds me of the time around their bankruptcy when sitting around a boarding area I hear this senior FA really angrily talking about how they had all just lost their pensions and what was she going to do. (I think she was reacting to news that day.) Well we get on the plane, and she starts serving drinks and meals. Guy in front me decides to chat up the FA by saying, "hey so you lost your pension?". :td::td: Guess who got the bad service? Me, and everyone in the rows behind me. I agree it is not acceptable to have FAs be shouting on the plane, but rather than worrying about writing nastygrams to management to tell these already irate FAs to quiet down, I worry more about what can be done to actually improve relations. Sigh. |

Definitely extremely unprofessional, in any class of service, but, better, I think, than calling passengers idiots. Hopefully, though, in this situation, the FAs vented their anger and then continued to provide service for the passengers without any resentment.

What seat was OP in to hear all this?
|
Employee strife and unprofessional relations amongst the staff were the cause of flight cancellations on this route in the past. While I understand employee discontent with management, there is no place for this behavior to effect service to the passengers.
