Elite qualifying
 

Hello Everyone.

I hope I put this in the correct forum. My question is: When redeeming miles for items on United, are these elite qualifying? Also, if you’re short on miles and you purchasing Personal miles, will they count toward Elite Status?

Only redeemable miles count for award redemptions. Purchasing redeemable miles will not result in any additional elite qualifying miles. You can purchase up to 5,000 elite qualifying miles if you choose to redeem up to 50,000 redeemable miles/Visa Choices.

when you redeem miles you've already earned on united, you won't get any additional elite qualifying miles (eqms). you only get eqms for the miles you fly on paid (not award) tickets and for a few other promotional things.

when you purchase additional miles, they are only redeemable miles, and you won't get any additional eqms, unfortuantely. (it would be great if they did though)

Yea, I was thinking about redeeming miles on the United's Merchandise Rewards section
I was trying to figure what is the incentive of redeeming miles or visit a store locally.
