Stopping a Web Booking?
 

Can I book a reservation on UA's web site and call immediately afterwards and put a hold on the transaction? I have a coupon and an unused ticket that I want to apply as partial payment - not the full amount to my credit card as the web site would normally charge.

Not typically, although some people have claimed that they have been able to skirt this issue by using a credit card that didn't clear. My solution is to use the original and vastly superior disk-based version of United Connection, as long as UA continues to support it. For references on how to find it, do a search in this forum.

Nov 1999, I booked tickets and a room to and in BLQ on UC3.0 for myself and my wife. Great room rate. I realized the kingsized deluxe room rate was for one. It was the only rate shown.

Cancelling was unbelievably difficult. The booking was through a third party agency that did not talk to customers.

They could not adjust the room to two, and they would not cancel.

Called the US booking agent for the hotel and cancelled through them.

You can call IMMEDIATELY to change a web reservation. They don't actually ticket for a few minutes to a few hours later.

Of course there's risk involved, but I have been successful.
