I can't believe in this day and age that people still judge others by what they wear.
I'm sure some will be horrified that I wear jeans & a t-shirt to Ruth's Chris...but I'm comfortable in it, I usually wear a blazer over the top and the jeans probably cost more than a 2-3 pairs of khaki's (if money's the issue here). *shrug* |

I actually can't stand wearing jeans. I find khakis' (pleated) are much more comfortable. Jeans are constricting and don't give you the "room" you need (okay, okay, too much information, I know). I'd sit on an 11 hour flight in khakis over jeans any day! ^

Many times, I see people wear jeans & T-shirts to top-end restaurants (not the RCC) here in San Francisco. These places will be $100/person, people are there for their anniversary, and the dude next to you comes in with jeans and a metallica t-shirt (Yes, personally witnessed at Gary Danko!). It is just disrespectful to others when people look like they have recently emerged from the mountains without food, water, & showers for the past 3 weeks.
If you do not agree with management of Gary Danko welcoming folks in jeans and t-shirts (as per your description), perhaps you need to look for alternative venues to spend your fine dining dollars ?

I wear what I wear not only because it's presentable, but it's also the most comfortable. I actually can't stand wearing jeans.

There are a few exceptions, but for most of the domestic clubs, you must be appropriately dressed to consume packaged processed cheese..
I always hover in wearing the appropriate attire to camouflage my pretzel, Starbucks drink, and sausage or burger ... |

Done plenty of business deals in Hawai'i and tucking the Tommy Bahama shirt in is definitely not what most of the business execs do. In fact, first time I did a demo in Hawai'i the local sales exec made sure I knew NOT to wear a suit/tie.
Dress code is, to quote Pirates of the Caribbean, more of a "guideline" than anything else. What we need to do is not pass judgment on others based on our own beliefs. |
Topic check: RCC Dress Code?
Plenty of other threads about "dress codes" on planes/meetings/whereever. Thanks for your cooperation. iluv2fly Moderator, UA |

I felt the same way as a teenager, and then I discovered baggy and boot cut jeans and have gone jeans ever since. :D
