UA codeshare on LX

Hi,
I'm looking at booking a ticket which gives me travelling LX, but the JFK-ZRH-JFK flights are booked as a UA codeshare. I know that some LX classes give zero miles, but since i'm booked on the UA flight number does that mean i'll get 100% miles automatically? Unfortunately the most 888-travelocity were able to tell me is that it's booked in economy.

thanks
goodo

If it is a UA flight number you will earn miles as if it were a UA flight.

What fare class are you booked into?

Travelocity should be able to give you your United Record Locator Number.

That is not true - it all depends on the operating carrier (in this case, LX).
Call LX to confirm what booking class it shows in their system.

I don't have a record locator or booking because i haven't booked it. If i book it, and then find out i get no miles, it's a waste. When i click on fare rules for the first segment, it tells me Fare details for SLAXZ71/UAF, but all the other segments an error comes up. Since there's no booking, I can't call LX to find out what class it's booked into.

Wrong. Metal counts on *A, not flight number. Yes, it's stupid. So the OP must call LX to see what class they booked ON THE LX FLIGHT, and then see if that earns miles.

Based on your fare basis, I think you would be booked into S class and earn 100% RDM/EQM.

If not, you can cancel within 24 hours.

You could book it with united, then call LX to see which class it is in. If it is non-mileage earning, utilize the 24 hr free cancellation that united provides.

S class on UA doesn't necessarily translate to S class on LX. It could be something different.

Perhaps, but I have booked S-class on LH before from a UA codeshare on .bomb and my LH BPs did say S-class.

Besides the fact that the classes don't automatically translate, this only seems to be bookable on travelocity.com, haven't found it anywhere else.

It appears you are going to have to book the flight and cancel if you don't get a fare class that earns miles.

UA and LH seem to be pretty well matched up. But as qasr said, that may or may not translate to LX.
