E-Upgrade - double debits
I guess UA is still working on how to streamline & eliminate bugs in their e-upgrade programs. My last segment on UA from IAD-MEX was done by upgrading at the check-in counter. I checked my MPlus account yesterday and UA had debited both mileage from my account and the equivalent amount of 500 mile e-certs too.... I wouldnt have complained if I had gotten a F Suite instead of a Y shuttle seat, but all I got for this double debit was a crummy domestic F seat and cold nuts/pretzels, so I sent Mplus an email.... lets see how they respond. ------------------ Gaucho100K |
Don't hold your breath for a fast repsonse! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
They took Ten EUG off us for similar deal on Jan 4th. Needed to waste time and do a letter. ZIPPO response in a month so far. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum50/HTML/004420.html ------------------ ~ Glen ~ |
I would call M+ instead of e-mail. They will credit your account immediately if you get the right person.

Everyone needs to watch there EUG accounts with great care. I departed the US on Jan 5 for Asia and I am still here, should return in a week or two. Anyway, I noticed on my electronic summary for 500 mile certs that on Jan 14 they took out 3 for a flight from CLE to DEN for a companion upgrade. Do they not even read the names on the account they are taking the certs from?? I know they are not certs but I like the term..
I called M+ and they credited my account, my concern is how did someone get the upgrades from my account. I would hope that when the CTO/Gate Agent or whoever does the upgrade and us my account they would see a different name even if they entered my account number by mistake. This time I was able to prove I was not even in the US but next time??? ------------------ UA (1K-1M, my airline of choice), AA(company Policy)EP, Starwood (P), Hyatt and more. Another thing to watch:
On a recent flight AUS-DEN-LAX I had been confirmed in F for the entire trip. The Agent asked me if I wanted to use my e-upgrades or paper. I used 3 paper upgrades. The next time I checked my summary, I had been credited 3 e-upgrades and debited 2 for AUS-DEN and 2 for DEN-LAX. I wish United would just go back to the old system. |
Actually, I got a very prompt response by email the next day, with request for ticket no. and a promise for prompt follow-up.
I will report the outcome. |
I just wish I could figure out how often they sweep the accounts in order to post the e-upgrades to your mileage plus account. Does anyone know how often this occurs?

I would call M+ instead of e-mail. They will credit your account immediately if you get the right person. What ticket numbers? Who knew. They were e-tickets, and I've tossed them when I saw all flights had posted fine. (Before EUG were showing to us on-line). Then I phone UA res. "Booking history off line and reloc. now archived". For ticket #'s I'd need to do this and that etc. There is NO 1K office or desk in Australia. Nothing. The # I call also deals with Mrs McGurk asking about the cost of a flight "Disneyland" to Las Vegas etc for her grandson etc. I can't access a USA 1-800 # unless I pay full It'l call rates. With hold times etc, this can be a $20 call to chase them about their own fault like this. Despite an hour of my wasted time and a month later they still have ten EUG, stolen without any authority or request from me. Bring back paper certs!!!!!!!!!!!!! ------------------ ~ Glen ~ [This message has been edited by ozstamps (edited 02-01-2001).] |
