Voucher Question

I recently used a Voucher to purchase a ticket (BWI-PHX). I dont think I will be able to use the ticket and now United is telling me that the Voucher amount will not be credited back to me (It was a Customer Service Voucher due to performance this summer) We used a $200 voucher on one ticket and a $50 on another. So now they are saying they are gone. That doesnt seem right or fair. I can understand the $75 change, but not the entire voucher amount.

The terms and conditions on a customer discount certificate specifically states that once you perform an exchange, the value of the certificate is lost.

Take a look at this:

Hopefully its a matter of semantics. You may not be able to get the $250 voucher value back in the form of a voucher, but maybe you've got $250 ticket value which can be applied to another ticket. I'd call UA, reference the ticket #, and see what they say as far as applying the unused ticket to a new ticket.

Also, there may be a difference if the cert you got originally from UA is a "discount cert" (which loses its value in the situation you describe based on my experience) versus a "travel voucher" which appears to survive. In other words, the ticket you originally bought probably won't show a "ticket value" inclusive of the "discount cert" whereas if you used a "voucher", the "ticket value" will include the voucher value.
