Wayward segment causing upgrade problem?
 

Hi all,

A quick question about my NRT-IAD flight (UA804) tomorrow, 12/21. We booked the following itinerary originally:

12/12 IAD-NRT-BKK
12/17 BKK-NRT
12/21 NRT-IAD

I was waitlisted with sponsored SWUs from booking, until about 4 days out from 12/12, when I cleared into NC all the way through to BKK. Then, when we got to the airport in BKK on the 17th were were offered an UFC from Y to NC for $315, which we accepted.

Now, in my itineraries, I see the original flights, plus an additional segment at the bottom showing the confirmed upgrade from BKK-NRT on the 17th. I know people have mentioned these wayward segments in upgrade situations before, and that you can call and have them removed from your itinerary. I really don't care about the aesthetics, but I was wondering if the newly appeared segment could have any effect on my upgrade for tomorrow.

I'm still showing as waitlisted with my sponsored SWU, just a bit over 24 hours out, and the flight shows C9 D9 Z9. Has anyone had a problem with a segment appearing at the end of their itinerary, especially like this where the new segment has a date prior to the waitlisted segment? Does the bomb think that my itinerary is completed (for upgrading purposes) or something because of this added segment? Or should I just ignore it, and keep hoping to clear between now and tomorrow?

It should not effect your upgrade for tomorrow. All it is saying is that you have a segment in NC (UFC) for BKK-NRT. If you want the segment in Y deleted call UA and they will delete it for you. It is the same thing as one segment clearing before the other on an ittn.

Let us know if you clear or not as I heard NRT-IAD is a hard upgrade.

Neither should it affect it.
