1K Qualification

I intend to qualify for 100K in November or December. My question is whether new 1Ks receive the 6 one-way confirmable upgrades immediately and when these expire--or whether they must wait until the next calendar year program begins (i.e., March 1, 2001).

Provided we get them again (after having qualified for 1K in 2000) I would expect the six Systemwides to show up in Jan-Feb 2001 timeframe and be good through Mar 2002. This year's Systemwides were issued on 5 Jan 2000 but I don't think that I received the paper certs until closer to 1 Feb. Of course if UA goes to some sort of electronic certificate process then I would expect to be able to use a Systemwide as of 1/1/01. Here's hoping we get at least 6 Systemwides and maybe a few more for our loyalty?

But if one qualifies, say, in the next month, do we get a packet this year or next February?

I thought that I said it but here it is again...(after having qualified for 1K in 2000) I would expect the six Systemwides to show up in Jan-Feb 2001 timeframe. It doesn't matter when in 2000 you qualified, January 2000, May 2000 (as I did) or 31 December, the Systemwides would show up in Jan/Feb of 2001 (if they are indeed a benefit that is to be continued).

There were some posts about flyers who qualified by midyear getting the systemwides with their welcome kit then. There was also a post by a flyer who qualified about then but did not get systemwides with his kit. After talking with UA about misleading words in his package, he was issued the certs for 2000 usage. It appears that qualifying late in the year means we must wait until next January.

I qualified in May.... I would also like my systemwides for 2000.... it seems like some get it, other dont. Some ask, and then get it... is this accurate..?

I think I should call UA then, since I made still in the first half of the year.

Any ideas..??

Gaucho, if you still have the mailing sent you by UA, look for something that says here's your six systemwides even though they were not included. That's what the other guy found in his literature and pointed out to UA.

There have been some posts re: where are my Systemwides. My recollection is that these posts referred to a very unique situation where the qualification occurred in 1999 but for a variety of reasons UA didn't recognize this qualification until July 2000 (presumably lack of or missing flight credit). This person then was able to get their 1K kit w/ Systemwides for qualification in 1999.

I still do not believe that you can qualify for 2000 in 2000 (on or before some unknown date) and get all of the benefits like those who qualified in 1999?

OK.. but my mailing has no such wording. Now, if I read above correctly, then some flyers got the systemwides anyway.... so why the difference ???

I suspect based on what I remember of his post that he got an old package that should not have gone to him and he lucked out. I think he was a new 1K not repeating. If yours was new status in May, might be worth a letter to UA before too much time passes?

i qualified last month and did not get the 6 system wides.

i called for other reasons and asked what are the benefits of 1k. the rep told me i get the 6 system wides and he was going to send them to me since i didnt get them. he then checked and found out i dont get them until next year.

anyway, if you call and convince them to send them, then ok, ya done good!

I am probably the one that posted I got the 6 system-wide certs in May.

I qualified for 1K in May (was Premex before) and received a new 1K kit. In that kit the 1K booklet said that 6 system-wide upgrades were enclosed but there were actually none. I was pretty sure that I was NOT suppose to get any until Jan/Feb 2001, but I called UA anyway and they sent them to me. However, UA did say that it was a misprint.

I believe that UA sent me the SAME 1K booklet as everyone got in Jan/Feb this year for qualifying in 1999 so it stated that there were system-wide certs enclosed.

My understanding is that if you RE-qualify for 1K (i.e. was already 1K from qualifying in 1999), then you will NOT receive a 1K kit until Jan/Feb next year, 2001. I.e. you have already received 6 system-wide certs in Jan/Feb this year and you will not receive another set until next Jan/Feb, 2001.

OK... I think I get the picture. As always, good old fashioned charm comes a long way -- and prevails !!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
