On UA cargo... Look on the 3rd, not the 4th.

It shows canceled for operations (and that it turned back to HKG.. So I am assuming an maintenance issue)

I'm scheduled to fly this segment later on this week and was wondering if this is significan
It isn't significant.

UA 869 HKG-SGN canceled on the 4th due to mechanical. Both airplanes arrived either ontime or early from ORD and SFO. 869 pushed back from the gate to find out that one engine would not start. They got back to the gate to get the starter replaced. During the test run, the mechanic found out that there was a crack inside that engine (?) and it was canceled about 3 hrs after the initial departure.

Interesting... thanks! Looks like UA 869 HKG-SGN was delayed by nearly six hours on Sept. 8 - and the flight for Sept. 9 is currently showing as DCSN at unitedcargo.com. Doesn't sound like they're having a lot of success with that segment so far this month! Here's hoping it's all smoothed out on the 10th.

Not a good week for 895, that's for sure. The actual push times have been:

9/7 -- 1821 (5 hours, 42 minutes late)
9/8 -- 1701 (4 hours, 22 minutes late)
9/9 -- 2039 (8 hours, 0 minutes late)

I'm hoping it will all get cleared up by my flight on Sat. Although, maybe a delay and some rebookings will allow my SWU to clear...

Ugh. I now know that this aircraft is used to fly the HKG-SGN route - I'm enjoying the overwarm RCC at the moment in HKG waiting out the 5 hour 35 minute delay in tonight's departure; UA 869 SFO-HKG arrived half an hour early, which was nice, but I didn't realize that only the flight number continues to SGN and not the aircraft.

Even more frustratingly, I didn't realize that there's no way to exit the departures are to Hong Kong proper - spent an hour asking if there was any way to get to customs/immigration so that I could at least go explore HK for a few hours, but nope, no go. Ah well!

This has been covered in the following thread,

UA 934 Delayed 2 hours 2 Days in Advance

Does anyone know why the flight would be delayed on day in advance?

No clue. Perhaps the aircraft routers are tinkering with aircraft routings (I think that is where they got the job title from) and maybe they are in a live system. I have no knowledge of how that works, but I would check back in a few hours, and again in the AM. Unitedcargo.com says 934 on the 13th is ontime for a 12:45 dptr from LAX wit a 7:10 arrival in LHR. Today is the 11th, so +2 days is the 13th. Checking on the 12th, which is about 1/2 a day away, it shows 1:55 late. This is a long haul flight, so it may be flying a longhaul over water segment today that is delayed, or may have maint. "Operations" usually in my experience, means an aircraft swap.

Perhaps you are using the wrong date on your search?

Easy Update has a tendency to report current date's operational information instead of your future flight. It's a known issue.

The 744 schedule continues to have problems:

895-13th -- due out 1239; left 1705
893-13th -- due out 1102; left 1950

881-14th -- due out 1203; expected 1510 (actual 1612)
900-14th -- due out 1358; expected 2045 (actual 2044)

901-15th -- due out 1400; expected 1805 (turn off late 900-14th)

Looks like at least 5 744s are out for mtce: N107UA, N116UA, N180UA, N178UA, and N199UA all have no recent ACARS reports.

Sorta puts a crimp in the normal turns.............
