Heading to ICN...SQ C or UA F?

Fellow FTers, need some experienced advice. Heading to ICN from WAS in C. Options are UA (with NF available), IAD-NRT-ICN, or SQ SFO-ICN (IAD-SFO on UA). Never been on SQ but know it is pretty good. SQ-15 has the 777-300ER so it is flat bed in C, correct?
Thanks!

SQ new C >>>>> UA F any day.

Can't comment on the new UA "F" but - regarding SQ's C -

Yes.. it is a flat bed... and a good one. It is as a seat that some folks don't like it...

It is VERY wide.. (I had to use the pillow to "buttress" myself in a bit...)

That IS a pretty minor complaint from me though! ..and I believe they are now providing a rectangular block style cushion to provide more comfort?

I had 11A.. front row of the mini cabin so no intrusion from a seat in front.... that applies to all 4 seats in 11 of course...(and in 14 IIRC)

You have to sleep at a slight angle across the "mattress"...due to the design.. again, some folks don't like that... I didn't care...

Food was excellent.. service was "SQ robotic" and a bit disjointed IMO.. or perhaps on my first SQ C flight I just expected too much based on hyperbolic reports from others?? :D

Is IAD-SFO 3 class equipment?
As much as I love SQ, IAD-SFO isn't insignificant amount of flying and if it's Airbus 319/321 or B757, then I'd just fly UA First Suite all the way to ICN.

IAD - SFO leg is A321 F. IAD - ICN would be via NRT. Done that before - not too shabby as long as you avoid Charlie Trotter.

I would also do UA F IAD-NRT-ICN all the way.

I assume you mean A320?

SQ C for sure. IAD-SFO on VX F if you can swing it. ;)

The perfect itinerary. Also, OP, don't credit miles to Mileage Plus so you have no problems in redemption.

SQ C without question.

expatinglasgow Nov 23, 2008 2:54 am

unless you need the eqm bonus from ua, i'd take sq.

GK1998 Nov 23, 2008 2:59 am

SQ C without a doubt ^

SQ C without a doubt.

Like the big seats and the "robotic" service. :D

I would fly IAD-(UA)-JFK-(UA)-SFO-(SQ)-ICN. You get UA p.s. and SQ C, the best of both worlds.:p
