What Mileage program
 

Hi ,

I am seeking some advice from you experts on Mileage Programs.

I am dedicated UA MP member and have been a UA *A Silver member for the last 5 years and will be in 2009 *A Gold Member with UA.

My dilemna is that for work purposes I am moving to Dubai and while great that United are flying to IAD from DXB my travel plans will probably not take me to the USA very often.

My travel in 2009 is likely to be Asia/ Africa and to Europe about 4 times mainly London/Dublin.

Having gold status for next year I am pleased but not sure that I should stay with the United program for where I will be living for a number of years.

My question to you is - given the same dilemna would you choose to

a) Stay with United MP ( I have a lot of miles to use 400K)
b) Move to another *A program e.g. BMI / Lufthansa
c) drop star alliance and move to Emirates
d) BA Executive Club

Your thoughts would be appreciated ...

I vote for B. BMI and Lufthansa were the 2 that I thought of by the time I finished the 4th paragraph.

But it will also depend on many, many, many other factors, including what class of service you'll be flying, redemption ease on the carrier you choose, status earned how quickly, etc. Be sure to check out the fora of the carriers you're considering.
