Forget the idea of 1st suites on the 767s--I read somewhere that the economics just don't work on that plane (not enough space to have enough seats to make it worthwhile)

I would suggest taking a domestic flight ORD-SFO, and then taking SQ 1st class SFO-HKG! |
About the caviar:
I remember reading a notice from UA a while ago saying they were deliberately suspending caviar service out of concern for overfishing/illegal trade in the Caspian sea area. They were going to replace caviar with other, more environmentally friendly luxury items. Does anyone else recall this? I guess UA hasn't done a good job of explaining its reasons on this perceived "decline" in service. |
Thanks for the good advice, bagold. SQ offers double miles thru 2/15/00 which makes it even more attractive.

bagold/Nathan -
While I would not suggest that UA from ORD to SFO is superior to SQ SFO-HKG, I would reply that flying SQ is not the panacea to all of your travel woes. Compared to SQ a couple of years ago (apparently) the service has declined. I just flew them for the first time in early Nov. and was disappointed. The cabin was even dirty. I don't disagree with the comments about UA F transpac, but I don't yet know what the answer is. So far, I've been most impressed w/ LH on the upper deck of all the *A F classes. I simply don't believe UA on its "green" rationale for eliminating caviar. Sure, there is a problem, but I don't hear about boycotts of AA or other carriers b/c they still serve caviar. And the "replacements" for the caviar aren't. They're preplated little things with no offer of seconds. Totally unimpressive. Greg [This message has been edited by greg99 (edited 12-07-1999).] |
