You might be waiting awhile. Have you noticed that the special giveaways have become less and less frequent? Also, the award tickets are getting more expensive (tearful goodbye to Dual Awards.)!

which bonus ae you referring to?

1) UA-promotion for flying 3 to 6 StarAlliance-partners between sep-15 and nov-15 (5'000 to 50'000 bonus plus Quiz-bonus of 10'000)? You can expect credit for that after dec-15-98. This promotions will be run for LH-miles&more-members from jan-1 to feb-28-99. I have no information if other StarAlliance-partners will run a similar promotion somewhen nor do I know if UA (and LH) will rerun such a promotion in the future - my guess is NO.

2) Or are you referring to the Star-Alliance Upgrade-vouchers (distributed in Summer 98 - to be used till nov-30-98)? I have no information if the StarAlliance-partners will rerun such a promotion in 99 - my guess is NO.

3) My believe is, that some/all(?) StarAlliance-partners will do something special in 99 as a welcome to Ansett and Air New Zealand (in spring 99) and ANA (later in 99).

that they will post bonus miles after 30 Dec 1999.

Sorry, my English is far from good, but I would like just to share with you, that it is possible to fly such exotic carriers like Thai or Varig within Europe. Thai has flights between Madrid, Rome and Athens and also from Amsterdam to Zurich and they used to fly between Stockholm and Paris. Varig too flies within Europe (ffrom London to Copenhagen)
