Beer as carry on
I am flying back from denver to calgary and I want to know if I can bring back some american beer as a carry on. Do any united employees know?
|
Unless they sell packaged beer in the airport, NO because you won't be able to get beer past the TSA check point.
You also won't be able to bring an open container of alcohol on board since all alcohol consumed on board must be provided by the flight crew. |
3oz rule prevents you from doing so. Most duty free stores will not have beer, but you could always check.
|
Any container over three ounces (liquid) would not be permitted through security.

Frozen
Maybe not beer, but how about ice in a water container? I used to teach physics and I am quite sure that ice is not a liquid
|
The bigger question here is, why would you want to bring American beer anywhere?
;) |
Let me guess...a case of Fat Tire? :)
Before the 3oz liquid ban went into effect, I used to see a lot of passengers storing a case of Fat Tire in the overhead bin on flights out of Denver. |
I actually LOVE miller high life. we cant get it here and althoigh I plan on consuming as much as possible while there, I would like to bring some home for friends and family. It truly is "the champagne of beers"

So the answer would be no ice. ;) |
If it is pure Ice, it may get thru the scanner. Ice has a much lower density as water and I'm sure the scanner 'scans' for density, that's why metal gets detected.

The prohibition on liquids through security is the TSA's policy, not United's. Therefore, I am closing this thread. The Travel Safety/Security Forum would probably be the best home for follow-up posts.
