E-Fare Round Trip Question
 

Hi All,

I've been a lurker around here for a while, and this is the first time that i've actually posted.

I'm currently up here in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I'm trying to book a one-way back down to Orange County.

Currently, United has an e-fare starting in Orange County, but not from San Francisco.

My Question is:

If I miss the first leg of the round trip itinerary, will my return leg automatically be forfeited?

Short answer - yes, United will cancel you for the second half. Sorry.

yangotang, welcome to posting on FlyerTalk! Flights to Orange Co. are often higher than to other So. Cal. airports such as LAX/BUR/ONT. So if those other airports are alternatives, you may want to look into those. Also look at the other Bay Area airports for Orange Co. flights: OAK/SJC. Southwest makes booking one-ways easy and I understand that Virgin America has low last-minute fares on some of its flights between SFO-LAX.

Since your chief question has to do with what UA would do in regards to a dropped return, we are going to move this onward to the UA forum from the California forum.

However, Ocn Vw 1K has given you good advice about other possibilities for intra-California travel, and you might want to pursue those on those airlines' forums.
