4.5 hrs in the A319; worth it to upgrade?

If only they would convert the 319's to 12F...this would also avoid downgrading folks when they swap in a 319 at the last minute for a scheduled 320

As said before: I second grabbing at least rows 6 or 12 for assurance and then still try the upgrade. Good luck

I'll upgrade any chance I can, I just did ORD-LAX couple weeks ago on A319 using my e500. I think ORD to West coast is the best way to burn e500s. However, with e500s you may have better chance flying on Sat than on weekdays.

I would have to say that I would upgrade into anything except for B757 1CD (non-p.s.) and maybe B737s. Even with Row 6 on the A319/A320, I would still upgrade on those aircraft (if I can). IMHO, those two have the most personal service in F.

I don't know if it is the seatcovers, if they are newer but something about the Airbus F seats is much nicer to me than the narrowbody Boeing F seats. I'd say upgrade for sure, if you can.

I wouldn't if I had a good E+ seat. My main issue is laptop power though. I would on an A320 because of laptop power, but a 319 doesn't really have that much difference IMO.
4.5 hours in Y isn't THAT bad in E+. I guess it would depend on what flights you're making in the future and compare that to the type of equipment that will be used on flights from there. While I love flying in F as much as anyone else, it depends on how much of an upgrade it really is. If the flight has C on it ... no brainer.

My girlfriend and I flew in 1st row F a 319 last night from ORD-SFO. I would say DON'T do it, especially if it's a non-meal flight (like mine was).
Reasons: you said you don't have enough upgrades for what you fly. Save those upgrades to get more bang for your buck on another flight. It's not that long of a ride if you fly much, E+ is fine, and 319 F isn't all that great. If you do upgrade, get 2nd row if you're >6 feet tall like I am.

it's debatable whether its worth it to ug on this. I like to save mine for flights with C and transcons which make it more worthwhile. depends how many of these you have and what other travel you have planned.

I have a 4+ hour ORD-PDX flight most every week. I save my upgrades for 757 flights, because (a) I don't find the E+ seats on the 319/320 bad at all (row 6 or exit row), and (b) because I detest getting shoved in row 1 in F on an airbus and wondering why I sacrificed the leg room.

I have turned down 1D and stayed in E+ on a 319. No meal difference, lots more leg room in E+. Have enought drink coupons that the $60 or so for wine does not make a difference.

If I'm not mistaken, don't the A319s not have ovens? which means no warm peanuts?? Correct me if i'm wrong!

beyond two hour (and especially SFO-DEN) I always go for an upgrade, unless its not meal time and its not a wide body.
ORD or beyond, I always upgrade - especially going west where the flght is longer.
Type of aircraft has nothing to do with it... other than 767 (narrower seats) and 733/5 (crappy seats) its all the same to me domestically.
