Extending the return date on *A award ticket?

I'm getting conflicting information from MP CSRs.
I wonder if anyone here has more definite information.

If I book an *A award ticket, and I later want to change the return date (before taking the outbound flight), what's the latest return date I can change to?

Award issue date + 330 days
Award issue date + 1 year
Change date + 330 days
Change date + 1 year
None of the above?

I've always assumed it's a year from award issue date. So if you booked your ticket today, June 25, 2008, you can delay return until June 25, 2009?

I know award inventory could be an issue, but as a 1K, I personally prefer the cancel the ticket, redeposit, and re-book new dates/itinerary method.
