Cheers.
I'm flying YEG->DEN->SFO and plan on stopping by the DEN RCC. If YEG->DEN departs from the domestic terminal (no RCC), where do I pick up my drink chits? Do I ask at DEN? or at YEG during check-in?

You will not receive drink chits for that routing.

Which ocean do you cross getting from Canada to SFO (unless you go the long way)?

? what does an ocean have to do with it.

Do I need to cross an ocean to get a drink out of UA? they really are stingy. Last time I checked, Canada is a different country? The flight is between two countries so it should be international.

Yes, you do have to cross an ocean. You get drink chits at your international transoceanic gateway.

Thanks for the info. You've probably saved me some embarrassment at the RCC counter.

But Puerto Rico doesn't count. Go figure.

I received them on multiple US-Canada trips as 1P and 1K while fully unaware of transoceanic requirement. Thanks UA for the goodwill.

The SFO Domestic RCC has clearly been asked a lot recently re drink chits. Just stopped in there before heading to the international terminal (where I am now)

Without prompting, the RCC Domestic told me that whilst I could enter I wouldn't get any drinks chits. Perhaps she noted my FT tag!

Will probably go to the SKL for a quick shower at 21:45

Maybe they sent some of the IAD crew out to retrain the SFO slackers.

Because (a) it's a territory of the United States and (b) you don't cross an ocean to get to it.
