Detroit DTW lounge access

have searched web and FT and have drawn a blank - what do UA flyers use for a lounge at DTW as there appear to be n RCC or related lounges.
thanks

You already have found your answer - nada. The NW lounge is nice, and has showers, but of course its in a different terminal.

My suggestion is the "Landing Strip". They have a free airport shuttle. It's not pretty, but its better than anything in the old Smith terminal. The best of DTW's Smith Terminal (that UA flies out of) is a Quiznos counter and a small bar after you clear security. Before security, you have a Starbucks and a cheesy mexican restaurant.

My suggestion is you do what you can to spend as little time in that terminal. I have also found the premier security lines aren't always open and when they are, they aren't that fast either.

Lounge access at the decrepit old DTW Smith Terminal consists of doing shots of tequila at the José Cuervo Tequilería outside of security.

Be mindful of rainy days as the roof leaks.

If you have time, take the intra-airport shuttle bus over to the McNamara Terminal. Walk into the beautiful Westin attached to the terminal and enjoy free wi-fi, spacious private bathrooms and a delicious meal at Dema Restaurant.

The Corrupt McNamara Terminal has a Lufthansa / Star Alliance Gold lounge. Also the airport is supposed to open a new terminal this year (originally scheduled for February, but now delayed) for use by non-SkyTeam airlines, which will have a shared Star Alliance Lounge.

A couple of weeks ago going through the Smith terminal I saw the opening of the new terminal now at September.

I had been wondering this.... Does this mean LH will use the new terminal (instead of MAC)?

I have been to the LH lounge a few times flying NWA with a US connection. The lounge is not big, but has some free snack food and booze. The agents were much friendlier than I expected.

Does anyone know when the new terminal at Detroit Metro Airport will open? United is scheduled to move into that one, and it will have a joint Star Alliance lounge. Thanks.

Last I heard was sometime in September. I'm sure UA will post it a couple of months out. Additional info here.

Of course. We'll be there on Labor Day, so I'm sure we'll just miss it.

Yeah; the current DTW is miserable. You can usually clear security pretty quick though; which lends itself well to a casino run on a long layover.

They are pressing to get it open, so right now Labor Day looks like a no go, but it is a bit early to say for sure. By end of July I'd think they should have a specific target date for UA to move.
