S class on NZ now earns miles?

An Air NZ reservations agent told me that S class tickets (a deep discount economy booking class, previously not earning miles) now earned miles on UA.

This would be good. Has anyone else heard this?

Not according to United. In general, never listen to a reservations agent regarding mileage accrual.

I doubt it. NZ allows LGSK to earn airpoints dollars on longhaul fares only (not domestic, trans-tasman or south pacific), but AFAIK these fares earn nothing on all other programs. (P is still non-earning on everything.)

I suspect the rep got confused with the longhaul earning by crediting to NZ.
